When he's high enough level I turn Aloth into a Battlemage because he'll have enough spells and master spells to make it work (then let him summon a staff and go to town). The rest of Aloth's spells are you to you, but those are going to be your bread and butter. Expose Vulnerabilities is a must have and you should be casting it at least once during a tough fight. Fetid Caress is necessary and you should have it memmed at all times paralyze works on an amazing array of enemies.

Confusion will reduce enemy numbers quickly. Slicken can knock down those Ogre cannons and keep them from taking out whoever they've decided to converge on (the AI generally has the Ogre cannons select the same target). Painful Interdiction is your friend and it will help Ciphers and Wizards land their magic and is simply a great opener for a Priest (it has a huge area too).Īloth (or whatever Wizard you're using) needs to be loaded up with CC spells. He should have high DEX, a robe or no armor for fastest possible recovery and high INT so he can spam buffs and debuffs and turn difficult battles into easy ones. I run: two melee (Eder & my main character Paladin), 2 Ciphers (my own henchman and Grieving Mother), a Priest (not Durance, because he sucks, so a henchman) and Aloth. The Ogres have cannons that will take down party members quickly from a distance so you have to be able to negate them as well. The Lagufaeth attack in big groups so you have to be able to negate their numbers (and the groups are even bigger on Hard mode). Some party compositions are going to make this harder than others.ĬC and priest buffs are your friends here, and for CC I recommend a Cipher (or two).

It's not difficult, but you really need to use your party (and certain classes) to full advantage. I am doing this on Hard difficulty right now. Should I just give up and come back after I've gained another 5 levels or something? I guess it doesn't help that I ditched Eder and Durance in favor of the new monk and barbarian, figuring they've got some interesting side quests in the area, but even so, I feel like enemies are wiping the floor with me while I'm barely making a dent in their defenses. What the hell? How are you even supposed to do this?"īasically, it just feels really, really, brutally hard even though I was supposedly too high level? (around 10 at the moment). "Oh look, it's that Gleaming Company group they've got a bounty on. "Hmm, languefa-something-or-others, these guys attack in big mobs and hit hard. Good thing I didn't choose scaled difficulty!" "Wow, these ogres are actually pretty tough. I'll pick no for now, don't mind feeling powerful for once." "Hmm, it says my group is considered high level and whether I want to turn on level scaling. "Okay, I'm doing pretty well in the game. So without boring you all with an essay, here's how it went for me:
